Worldwide Business Research Awards Sun Microsystems' Executive "Service Leader of the Year" Award at Field Service 2006
Service leader recognized for innovative service business transformation utilizing Servigistics strategic service management solution
Servigistics, the leading strategic service management solution provider, announced today that Steve Simpson, Sun Microsystems’ Senior Director of Supply Chain Management, has been named “Service Leader of the Year” by Worldwide Business Research (WBR), an executive business conference organization, during a ceremony at the 2006 Field Service Conference in Carlsbad, California. The Field Service Awards honor, recognize, and promote service and support leaders who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the service industry.
The Field Service Award recipients were selected by a panel of judges comprised of executives from leading companies such as GE Healthcare, Texas Instruments, Inc., Xerox and others. The Service Leader of the Year Award honors individuals who have successfully implemented innovative solutions to transform their service organization and achieve service business success, while contributing to the advancement of the service industry.
Under Simpson’s leadership, Sun transformed its service business by replacing existing service parts planning software with the Servigistics Service Parts Management solution. With Servigistics, Sun achieved worldwide parts visibility and saved more than $40 million in the first year, with ROI significantly higher than anticipated, by reducing repair investment and eliminating purchases.
“Sun Microsystems is dedicated to providing the highest quality service to our customers,” said Simpson. “I am truly honored to receive this year’s Service Leader of the Year Award and believe this achievement demonstrates Sun’s dedication to continuously raising the bar on service and implementing innovative solutions, such as Servigistics, to help us achieve our service goals.”
“More leading companies are viewing after-sale service as a strategic vehicle to improve corporate performance, and are implementing proven technology solutions to enable these efforts,” said Eric Hinkle, Servigistics CEO. “We are proud to serve world-class companies such as Sun Microsystems, and are pleased to see them publicly recognized by their peers for service excellence. Congratulations to Steve Simpson and Sun Microsystems for this well-deserved recognition!”
